Love to Love You

Hello Everyone!
Love is in the air! Can you smell it? I do! June is usually filled with weddings! Today, I am sharing a layout I intended on giving to my Pastors for their wedding anniversary…BUT I love it so much that I may keep it since it does match the living room décor LOL! Because of my dilemma, I did not include a photo yet~
On the layout, I went with a monochromatic color scheme using only white, ivory, beige and neutral tones. I used several BossKut files! I used the Loopy Doily, Vine 0983, and a piece from the Damask Frame 0378. I really like how BossKut files can help embellish a page by using them as a standalone focal point or mixing them with other embellishments!  On this one, I did a little bit of both. I must say, there is a lot of layering and dimension on here!

The Loopy Doily has those beautiful loops; I didn’t want to do too much to it. I simply offset it and then embossed Happily Ever After on the center of the doily using white embossing powder. Then a photo mat was added for a photo. Tucked behind the doily are a piece of velum with both dry and wet embossing and another piece from the paper collection I used for the pattern paper.

The Vine 0983 is perfect to fill in for flower sprays. That is exactly what I did here! I cut two of them on my BossKut Gazelle. Then I used an embossing folder to add texture to them. I layered a spray of flowers on top. I also used the stem from the Damask Frame 0379 as a filler. The frame was perfect to use as the base for the flowers!

I hear you all asking about that lace! I am getting to it J Now that beautiful lace was in my DT package from BossKut! Isn’t luscious? As much as it pained me, I used two layers of that gorgeous lace! I also added two rows of pearls on top.

The charm in the corner and in the heart in the flower spray was also in my DT package. Because of the colors of the layout, I painted the charms with Picket Fence Crackle Paint and sealed them with an acrylic spray. This gave them an antique feel. I used the crackle paint around the pattern paper to give it a distressed look.

That is the gist of the layout! I hope I inspired you to pull out those wedding photos and get busy! Don’t forget to pop by BossKut.com for more projects, supplies, files and inspiration. Thank you for stopping by, Kenya

Greatest Dad!

Hello Everyone,

Kenya here to share a special Father’s Day project the girls and I made for DH. I asked the girls to come up with things that described their dad. What is funny is the youngest one calls him “Honey”! When the other girls were around the same age they called him that as well! It is the funniest and cutest thing ever!  They were the inspiration for our gift to him~

For this project, I modified a shadow box to fit my needs. I took a photo of my DH and placed it in software for editing. In the software, I made his photo into a sketch and lightened it up as much as possible. Then I typed the descriptive words the girls gave me on top and printed it out on linen paper.

This shadow box is an eclectic collection of things he likes such as hobbies and passion. I wanted it to reflect him. To complete this box, you KNOW I HAD to use my GAZELLE! Hey btw, did you know the GAZELLE is made right here in the USA?? Cool right? OK, back to the project. For the cuts, I used the Scroll Border. I love how the border gave the box a finished look. I distressed that to make it look like metal. I love how it turned out! I added one to the front and top.

I also used the Simple Cross (since DH is a minister) to add to both sides of the box. I added different charms (some were given to me by Mrs. BossKut) and elements that show his interests such as music, writing, nature and etc.

Another thing I love about the GAZELLE is the ENGRAVING TOOL! From time to time, I pull it out to engrave on metal and acetate. You can make some cool affects with it. For this, I kept it simple by engraving the outline of Father’s Day 2012. It was the perfect touch to this project!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s project! Don’t forget to stop by BOSSKUT for more files, supplies and inspiration! Thanks for stopping by, Kenya~

Frosty Mug

Hello Everyone!

Who doesn’t enjoy a large glass of a refreshing beverage? Summer is getting closer and so is Father’s Day! Masculine projects always give me a run for my money! Today, I am sharing an easy and generic Father’s Day gift that can be given to any father or father figure in your life! My hubby is not a beer drinker BUT he does like Root Beer. Can you imagine this mug coming right out of the freezer just waiting for some ice cold Root Beer to be poured in? Ah yes, I have made myself thirsty J

To make this mug:

1.       Weld two of the 0983 vines together. Then I used a FunTime font for the word “DAD”.

2.       Placed a piece of scrap vinyl on the mat (vinyl can be purchase at BossKut.com); this will become your mask.

3.       Cut the images using the BossKut Gazelle.

4.       Once the cutting is complete, weed the positive image out and adhere the negative of the images to the mug using Transfer Vinyl Tape (can be purchased at BossKut.com).

5.       Use a generous amount of Etching Cream to the images (make sure the cream does not go on the parts you do not want etched).

6.       Leave cream on for about 10-15 minutes (depending on how etched you like your project).

7.       Take off the access amount of etching cream (can be put back in the container for later use) and clean the remaining cream with warm water.

8.       Carefully take off the mask.

9.       Wash your mug and enjoy!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s project! Remember to stop by BossKut.com for more files and inspiration! Kenya~

Teacher's Simple Tumbler

Hello Everyone!

Teachers have a way to affect our lives forever. Each and every one of us has that one teacher we will never forget. My teacher was Ms. Winters! She was my kindergarten teacher and she was a hippy LOL! She was so down to earth. One thing I loved about Ms. Winters was how she read to the class! She knew how to make a book come to life J It has been many years since I seen or heard from Ms. Winters, but I think about her often. Please remember the teachers in your life...past, present and future J

Today, I would like to share a really simple Teachers Appreciation project that can be put together in minutes using your BossKut Gazelle. You can go simple like I did or go wild by layering different colors of vinyl (can be purchased at BossKut.com). There are many school related files available on BossKut.com. However, I decided to do something on my own. I constructed an apple from a sketch. What I love about FunTime and the Gazelle is I can do what I like J. Once the apple was to my satisfaction, I welded the teacher’s initials in the apple using FunTime fonts. On the back, I put a simple quote on the back.

That is it! Vinyl is so fun to work with and it cuts like butter in the Gazelle! Don’t forget to pop by BossKut.com to check out the vinyl selection, vinyl blades, files and inspiration. Kenya~

Mother's Day Sweet Cards

Hello Everyone!

Kenya here to share two cards using the newly released Loopy Doily! This card can be massed produced in the matter of minutes! For the base of the card, I made a shadow (4.2”) of the doily and welded it to a rectangle which measures 4.25”x5.5”.  Once the base is folded in half, it will be a standard A2 sized card (4.2”).

The gold card, the Loopy Doily’s top layer was embossed with gold embossing powder to match the pattern paper. I also embossed the sentiment. The pearls were colored with the Golden Yellow Copic Marker (can be purchased at BossKut.com). The butterflies were punched in the same pattern paper on the base of the card. I added pearls to the center.

For the yellow and white card, in conjunction with the Loopy Doily, I used the newly released RufflesPKButterfly. The butterfly is mounted on the center cut which was dry embossed to add texture. I decided not to add a sentiment to this one. To finish it off, I added pearls to the RufflesPKButterfly and a pearl flourish. I also added pearls to the base of the card to pull everything together.

That is it for today! I really hope you enjoyed today’s cards. Don’t forget to pop on over to BossKut.com for ALL of the files, supplies and to check out other projects from the talented DT! Thanks for stopping by, Kenya~

**Please note, I suggest lining the shadow to the top layer to make sure the loops line up correctly before applying adhesive!

Shadow Box Card

Happy May Krafters!

Shadow box cards are one of my favorite projects to do! When I discovered these two years ago, I was hooked! Yes they are cards, but they can double as a beautiful home décor piece. I HAD to use the newly released RufflesPKButterfly and ParkerPKflower! Both files are so cute and adds dimension without the bulk!

For this card, I cut an 8.5”x11” sheet of card stock in half. I scored both pieces at 1”, 1.5” 7” and 7.5” you will fold the papers using the mountain valley fold. These two pieces forms the box. Then you can use your BossKut Gazelle, BossKut die or punch to cut a shape in the middle of one of your panels. This will become the front of your card.

I typically decorate the inside before the outside of this type of card. Since the RufflesPKButterfly file and the papers are so pretty, I did not want to do too much. Usually, I add a nice sentiment in the inside, but it will go on the back so the focus will be on the butterfly. I added a rhinestone flourish. Once the inside is decorated, adhere the back panel to the front by meeting up the outer folds.

On my sample, I dry embossed the side panels for a decoration (do this before adhering to the back panel). I also added pattern paper to the front to coordinate with the pattern paper inside of the box. To decorate the outside, I used the ParkerPKflower file. I also used cherry blossoms (you can make these with the Forget Me Nots file J if you’d like) as fillers. That beautiful lace came from Ms. BossKut…ah, it is gorgeous (thank you)! This was also sprayed to match the pattern papers. I added flourishes and the sentiment to complete the outside.

The sky is the limit to what you do with these! I have made them to be interactive or stand alone as I did for this one! Please remember to pop on over to BossKut.com for files, die and supplies…you like how that rhymed LOL! Have a wonderful day, Kenya~
