Love to Love You

Hello Everyone!
Love is in the air! Can you smell it? I do! June is usually filled with weddings! Today, I am sharing a layout I intended on giving to my Pastors for their wedding anniversary…BUT I love it so much that I may keep it since it does match the living room décor LOL! Because of my dilemma, I did not include a photo yet~
On the layout, I went with a monochromatic color scheme using only white, ivory, beige and neutral tones. I used several BossKut files! I used the Loopy Doily, Vine 0983, and a piece from the Damask Frame 0378. I really like how BossKut files can help embellish a page by using them as a standalone focal point or mixing them with other embellishments!  On this one, I did a little bit of both. I must say, there is a lot of layering and dimension on here!

The Loopy Doily has those beautiful loops; I didn’t want to do too much to it. I simply offset it and then embossed Happily Ever After on the center of the doily using white embossing powder. Then a photo mat was added for a photo. Tucked behind the doily are a piece of velum with both dry and wet embossing and another piece from the paper collection I used for the pattern paper.

The Vine 0983 is perfect to fill in for flower sprays. That is exactly what I did here! I cut two of them on my BossKut Gazelle. Then I used an embossing folder to add texture to them. I layered a spray of flowers on top. I also used the stem from the Damask Frame 0379 as a filler. The frame was perfect to use as the base for the flowers!

I hear you all asking about that lace! I am getting to it J Now that beautiful lace was in my DT package from BossKut! Isn’t luscious? As much as it pained me, I used two layers of that gorgeous lace! I also added two rows of pearls on top.

The charm in the corner and in the heart in the flower spray was also in my DT package. Because of the colors of the layout, I painted the charms with Picket Fence Crackle Paint and sealed them with an acrylic spray. This gave them an antique feel. I used the crackle paint around the pattern paper to give it a distressed look.

That is the gist of the layout! I hope I inspired you to pull out those wedding photos and get busy! Don’t forget to pop by BossKut.com for more projects, supplies, files and inspiration. Thank you for stopping by, Kenya

Greatest Dad!

Hello Everyone,

Kenya here to share a special Father’s Day project the girls and I made for DH. I asked the girls to come up with things that described their dad. What is funny is the youngest one calls him “Honey”! When the other girls were around the same age they called him that as well! It is the funniest and cutest thing ever!  They were the inspiration for our gift to him~

For this project, I modified a shadow box to fit my needs. I took a photo of my DH and placed it in software for editing. In the software, I made his photo into a sketch and lightened it up as much as possible. Then I typed the descriptive words the girls gave me on top and printed it out on linen paper.

This shadow box is an eclectic collection of things he likes such as hobbies and passion. I wanted it to reflect him. To complete this box, you KNOW I HAD to use my GAZELLE! Hey btw, did you know the GAZELLE is made right here in the USA?? Cool right? OK, back to the project. For the cuts, I used the Scroll Border. I love how the border gave the box a finished look. I distressed that to make it look like metal. I love how it turned out! I added one to the front and top.

I also used the Simple Cross (since DH is a minister) to add to both sides of the box. I added different charms (some were given to me by Mrs. BossKut) and elements that show his interests such as music, writing, nature and etc.

Another thing I love about the GAZELLE is the ENGRAVING TOOL! From time to time, I pull it out to engrave on metal and acetate. You can make some cool affects with it. For this, I kept it simple by engraving the outline of Father’s Day 2012. It was the perfect touch to this project!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s project! Don’t forget to stop by BOSSKUT for more files, supplies and inspiration! Thanks for stopping by, Kenya~

Frosty Mug

Hello Everyone!

Who doesn’t enjoy a large glass of a refreshing beverage? Summer is getting closer and so is Father’s Day! Masculine projects always give me a run for my money! Today, I am sharing an easy and generic Father’s Day gift that can be given to any father or father figure in your life! My hubby is not a beer drinker BUT he does like Root Beer. Can you imagine this mug coming right out of the freezer just waiting for some ice cold Root Beer to be poured in? Ah yes, I have made myself thirsty J

To make this mug:

1.       Weld two of the 0983 vines together. Then I used a FunTime font for the word “DAD”.

2.       Placed a piece of scrap vinyl on the mat (vinyl can be purchase at BossKut.com); this will become your mask.

3.       Cut the images using the BossKut Gazelle.

4.       Once the cutting is complete, weed the positive image out and adhere the negative of the images to the mug using Transfer Vinyl Tape (can be purchased at BossKut.com).

5.       Use a generous amount of Etching Cream to the images (make sure the cream does not go on the parts you do not want etched).

6.       Leave cream on for about 10-15 minutes (depending on how etched you like your project).

7.       Take off the access amount of etching cream (can be put back in the container for later use) and clean the remaining cream with warm water.

8.       Carefully take off the mask.

9.       Wash your mug and enjoy!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s project! Remember to stop by BossKut.com for more files and inspiration! Kenya~
